About Gang Xu, Ph.D.
Dr. Gang Xu is a naturalized U.S. citizen from China. He was born in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. He started his school in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang Province. He returned to Quzhou, Zhejiang Province after Grade 2 and finished his elementary and secondary schools there.
Quzhou is the place where the direct lineage of Confucius reside and the Temple of Confucius claims its orthodoxy. His alma mater Quzhou No.1 Secondary School had been the best school in west Zhejiang before it was ruined in the Culture Revolution under CCP; it had been cultivating the great talents from the region and around, such as Louis Cha Leung-yung, probably the most read Chinese writer worldwide. In retrospect, Confucius and Louis Cha Leung-yung are the two who have profoundly shaped his life.
Gang Xu is deeply instilled with traditional Chinese literature. He is a classical Chinese man of letter in spite of his aptitude in science. In his hobby, he was a published artist in traditional Chinese seal carving or Zhuanke.
Gang Xu received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from University of Iowa in 1997. After his fellowship at Harvard and a short stint at Yale, he left academia and eventually discovered his passion in education. In 2009 he founded Boston Center for Education and Profession Development, Inc., working as an educational consultant. He had grown the business into a prominent brand name and a target for acquisition.
After summer 2016, out of the concern about his safety, he stopped traveling to China, suspended his business, and eventually closed the business in 2019, after its tenth anniversary.
Dr. Gang Xu writes in both English and Chinese.
